The Peak of Summer...

At the start of Summer, 2013, I went to Wisconsin to visit family.  By the time I get back to Oregon, it will be the peak of summer and ol' Cousin John will already be at his favorite camping site for the season.  Can't wait to see him up there when I return!

Gifford-Pinchot National Forest

Our Most Isolated Camping Spot

I'm playing Josh's ashiko drum at our spot in Gifford-Pinchot National Forest, Washington. It's quite a long drive compared to the short trek to Mt. Hood National Forest here in Oregon. The payoff is that you generally won't run into another living soul up here. On this occasion, Josh and I came upon a motorcycle rider touring the high country. He let us have the spot and moved on. As we looked around, we were thrilled to find a plentiful supply of split cedar left by the previous campers!
